Always learning…
Before getting into the exciting new stuff that I’ve learned, funny enough I’ve actually learned some new stuff regarding FTP…which is the EXACT opposite of my last post. As some stuff went missing from our collaborative FTP server, I realized that if my whole folder were to suddenly disappear I would have no backup. Big Yikes!!
SO…I learned that it is always better to make updates offline. I also learned about the cool Synchronize feature in Transmit! Makes updating so much easier!
Exciting new developments!
We have played around in Affinity Designer, which has been a lot more fun than I expected it to be. I don’t particularly consider myself to be a “creative” person that can come up with cool stuff on my own, but after watching a few tutorials I kind of surprised myself at some of the stuff I made!
One of the first things I made is this little campfire! I made an oval and adjusted the nodes to create the shape of the flames, then just copy and pasted. The logs are just two circles and a rectangle stuck together.
I also made a skull, modeled after one of my many decorations on the shelves in my office. Again, it’s not great. I can feel future me looking back and cringing at it. I sure hope I don’t though, because I need to be reminded that I did this with very little experience and zero tutorial on this specific design! Just throwing some shapes onto an artboard and adjusting them. Then I found the inner shadow and just used that for my “shading” for now.
We also finally started learning CSS! So that is exciting to get away from writing ugly html!
That’s enough…for now.
I could probably write an entire 10 page essay on the things I’ve been learning, but in the interest of keeping this short-ish, I’ll save it for another day and another post!
Fantastic! These are 🔥 💀
I think HTML is beautiful, but it only took me 1.5 years to appreciate it. nice graphics!
